Spirits are a rare zombie variant. They can be identified by their white transparent hue – which also extends to any clothing they may be wearing. Spirits also make higher pitched noises while idle, alerted, and attacking compared to normal zombies. Spirit zombies take significantly less damage from ranged weapons, so they are best fought by other means (such as melee weapons). Spirits only take 10% of the damage they would normally receive from ranged weapons.

Spirits should not be confused with Flankers, which turn a transparent purple hue while hunting players.
