Welcome to the Unturned Wiki! This is a community project meant to provide information about the game. Our community is open to anyone – this page is for general discussion about the wiki and contains information about how to get started as an editor. Here's some steps to help you get started:

  1. Register! Create a free account to contribute, keep track of your own edits, customize your experience, and more perks.
  2. Want to learn more about the Unturned Wiki? Read about our rules, the wiki's style guide, and other information.
  3. Be bold – jump right in and start editing. The list of maintenance categories is a great place to find things to do, or you can start small by fixing spelling, grammar, and other errors you come across.
  4. Need help? Check out the support wiki. You can also create a new section on this page to discuss things.

Ongoing projects

These are ongoing, long-term projects. But they're not the only projects people are working on!

Translations

We're interested in translating the Unturned Wiki to other languages! If you're an experienced wiki editor (for any wiki), and a native/fluent speaker of another language, feel free to reach out! There's nothing set up in this area to help support wiki translations currently – so please only reach out if you are experienced in both of those things. If you are less experienced, consider helping out on this English wiki for a bit instead!

Patches

We're slowly adding pages for each game update, using the {{Patch layout}} template for layouting. Each patch page should include hyperlinks to other wiki pages, and those wiki pages should be updated to use {{Update history}} and link back.

Template documentation

Templates need better documentation available for editors. There should be a {{doc}} subpage for every template, using TemplateData where appropriate. Every module and template should list any subpages, TemplateStyles loaded, or Lua invoked as well. New templates may need to be created for this.

More Help (NS) pages

More Help: namespace pages should be written about important wiki features. Such as:

  • Templates – e.g., explaining naming scheme, important templates like infoboxes/navboxes/amboxes, category tree.
  • Themes – e.g., linking to important CSS pages on the wiki, resources for writing CSS, explaining ThemeToggle, how to use TemplateStyles.
  • Categories – e.g., our main hierarchy and the most important categories (like where to find Items), how to categorize more niche things.
  • Cargo – e.g., explanation of what Cargo is, how we currently use, how we want to use it, important pages and resources.

Tweak wiki gadgets before publishing

(This is an example topic – you can create one too!) Before we finish migrating, we should verify that all Gadgets work properly, are styled correctly (especially if they're enabled by default), are necessary, and are toggled as desired. —MoltonMontro (talk) 19:07, 23 April 2024 (UTC)

(You can also reply to a section by clicking the "Edit" button next to the section header. Add a colon : to the start of your reply to indent it, and add four tildes ~~~~ to the end to include your signature.) Alright, I've tweaked these now. Should be all good! —MoltonMontro (talk) 19:15, 23 April 2024 (UTC)

Better NPC pages

The NPCs article is really lacking. It should provide information about how friendly NPCs work (dialogue, quests, vendors...). There should probably be an article per NPC, with a navbox per map that also includes links to safezones (or other NPC hubs), quests, and vendors (maybe these should be part of that NPC's page?). New templates will have to be made for all of these things, as NPC-related coverage is severely lacking.—MoltonMontro (talk) 19:19, 23 April 2024 (UTC)

Better Zombie pages

I've split Zombies into one article per zombie type. This main article should probably just cover generic behavior (pathing, navmesh, attacking placeables/vehicles, attacking players, stunning, movement speed, other relevant config settings like Use_Player_Damage or default spawn chances for variants). Brief mentions for full moons, deadzones, and quests (spawning zombie bosses). Mention maps with zombie difficulty overrides (e.g., Cologne). These pages will likely need new templates or images! There's some additional discussion on the Normal Zombie talk page.--MoltonMontro (talk) 19:22, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
